Magical today with glorious spring sun glistening through the ice encrusted branches, birds chirpingly praising the sun Godess, Peter M and Sandy B basking on the cabin deck dreaming of future TOC projects; Ain’t it great to be alive and in the woods…

Beautiful silken skiing today to green cabin, Petrie’s Folly, partway up Drop off until complete occlusion by bent branches after first hill-we cleared a bunch but Cyrus got tired and hungry(those extra 5 lbs were dropping him 2 ft with each step into the snow).

Lots of snow in the woods still. Pretty good skiing to the green cabin and on CTT tho not groomed for a while-you can always phone the Rec Dept 364-4955 and ask them to get Brett to groom-perhaps if they heard from a few different people they would realize I am not the only skier in Sackville. Am I?

Skiing on the skidoo and ATV trails is fine once the temperature is above freezing for a few hours, although once it gets to 5 or 6 degrees it gets pretty slow-not so bad if the sun is out and you have shorts on though. Waxless or chemical skis th eway to go. Big ATV rally this weekend so their trails should be well groomed for skating from Friday on, although once the afternoon arrives there will be lots of machines out.

En routr to the green cabin things a bit sticky in the sun and fresh snow this a.m-better once all the wax is scraped off. Gotta start getting out early-before it hits -1…Spring is hear and the snow fleas are lovin’ it.

Broken round Blue North to Petrie’s Folly and up Yellow to beside the Ski Doo Trail. CTT and presumably BHP are groomed. Ski before it hits zero or use waxless or chemical skis-Multis worked awesome today.

Trails are a bit crusty and fast and BHP and CTT still not groomed. Access Road from Walker Rd has been partly ploughed by a tractor leaving an inch or two of soft snow with good grip-skateable in places and fine for classic skiing. I see the ski doo groomer is gassing up so those trails should be in excellent condition for a morning skate.

CTT and I presume BHPark are groomed. Tractor has headed up toward Drop Off Ridge(Tho not over our bridges) so that route is a bit of a washout.

According to Ross, the trails are in great shape.

Saturday, 23 January is a family ski afternoon. There will be a fire on in the morning at the cabin on the crooked tree trail, so pop in all afternoon to warm up and chat.

Also don’t forget to send your membership in to Kate
